About MC Studio
Software for the workshop, started from inside one.
MC Studio started inside Normunds' own furniture workshop.
As the business became more digital, the challenge was not finding capable software. It was learning it, configuring it and fitting it into real workshop work while the jobs kept moving.
So we started building the software we wanted to use ourselves.

From building by hand to a digital workshop
The workshop came before the software.
Normunds grew up in Latvia around hands-on building, making practical structures with his family while developing an early interest in 3D design.
After moving to the Netherlands, small handyman jobs gradually grew into custom furniture work. In 2024 he started Skyline Kasten in a 16 m² workshop.
The workshop grew to roughly 75 m², with spray finishing, a 3-axis CNC and another pair of hands helping part time.
As the workshop became more capable, the question became more digital too: how do you bring professional software into the work without making the software another trade to learn?

Digital transformation
Digital manufacturing changed the question
The capability was there. Accessing it was the hard part.
Normunds had worked with general 3D and CAD tools long before buying a CNC.
Shapr3D became an important benchmark for how direct and modern professional software could feel.
As Skyline moved further into digital manufacturing, specialist cabinet software introduced much deeper manufacturing logic. That capability was valuable, but bringing it into an already-running workshop also meant learning terminology, configuration and a very different way of working.
Mozaik eventually helped Skyline produce its first CNC-cut panel. Getting there took months of learning, setup and implementation alongside the furniture work itself.
The takeaway was not that professional software lacked capability. Quite the opposite. The question became how to make that depth easier to understand and bring into the work.

What if professional furniture software could keep the depth while making the way it works easier to understand?
That question became part of the foundation for MC Studio.
One workshop gave us the starting point
Other furniture makers keep us honest.
Normunds knows his own workshop deeply. But different makers use different materials, machines, teams and workflows.
That is why we test MC Studio against real work outside our own workshop instead of assuming one way of working fits everyone.
Founder experience gives us somewhere to start. Other workshops show us what still needs to work better.
